Developer’s £470,000 for village school and crossing
The financial contributions form part of a 106 agreement which was negotiated between the developers and Cornwall Council’s planning department ahead of planning consent being granted earlier this month. The village is to receive £140,000 for a pedestrian crossing near the Asda roundabout which will provide safe passage for pedestrians between Mabe and Penryn.
A further £170,000 will be spent on improving the village’s public open spaces. The developers will also give £160,000 to Mabe School.
Truro-based Westcountry Land’s special purpose company, Treliever Developments, collaborated with Taylor Wimpey to secure the planning permission for the 90 family homes.
The application states that 30 of the new homes will be available to rent by local people and that the planning consent represents a £8million investment in the Cornish construction industry, with local contractors used for a majority of the work.
Building is to start within the next six months and take three years to complete.
The developers behind plans for 90 new homes in Mabe have agreed to pump £470,000 into the village community.
