Plan for 46 Homes
Developer Westcountry Land & Homes hopes to build on land opposite Hill Hay Close in Fowey. The site is located on the north western edge of the town and just off the B3415, the main road into the town centre. The new housing would be 50% affordable and the scheme has been brought forward to respond to local housing need, says the developer.
The field earmarked for the scheme has been owned by a local family for many years and has been used intermittently to keep horses, but not for agricultural purposes, states the planning document. As the family’s last remaining landholding in the area, the site has ‘little useable purpose’, it states.
The developer describes the plot as an ‘infill’ site, as it is bordered on one side by an existing housing development, on another by the large house and gardens at Polscoe, and also adjoins a main road. Westcountry Land & Homes say that the outline application it has submitted to Cornwall Council has been prepared with input from Fowey Town Council. Following a presentation to the Town Council in October 2017, and a public consultation that same month, there were drop-in sessions at Fowey Community Centre in November. Around two thirds of those who attended these sessions stated that they were in support of the proposals, says Westcountry Land & Homes, and the developer adds that it feels that concerns raised have been addressed.
