The Holsworthy Post – New housing proposal for land in Holsworthy
Local residents and businesses are invited to view an online public consultation to comment on plans for a new housing scheme in Holsworthy.
The new project will be at Trewyn Road, Holsworthy.
Within Holsworthy a small number of sites are allocated for housing to meet the full range of the community’s needs. This new site is allocated for housing and delivery of a link road between Rydon Road and Trewyn Road under the Policy HOL03 within the North Devon and Torridge Local Plan.
The site area is 10.5 hectares and the proposed scheme includes up to 200 homes; 35% of which will be affordable homes that are either for social rent or shared ownership. Up to 50% of the site will be retained as green open spaces for the benefit of both residents and the wider local community.
The online consultation demonstrates how the site could be developed and asks for input from the community before plans are finalised for an Outline Planning Application later this year. This is an initial stage of the planning process with the project not expected to start for some time. A Detailed Planning Application will then follow in the future.
Exeter-based LHC Design, who have designed the scheme on behalf of Westcountry Land, said: “We believe that this extension to the town will contribute to the attractiveness of the settlement and support the long-term prosperity of Holsworthy. It is necessary to provide a range of housing types to meet future growth requirements, and to support community services and facilities in this rural location.”
