Porthtowan, Cornwall

Westcountry Land identified a rounding-off opportunity on the edge of the popular coastal village of Porthtowan and initially submitted a planning application in June 2020 for four open market homes. The proposal was refused in August 2020, and a subsequent appeal was dismissed in March 2021.

Following a careful review of feedback, we submitted a revised application in November 2022 for a mixed-tenure scheme comprising seven homes – three open market and four affordable. This updated proposal was shaped to better reflect local housing needs and planning policy, and it received approval in September 2023.

The approved scheme balances high-quality design with the delivery of much-needed affordable housing in a desirable coastal location. After securing planning, we took the site to market and successfully completed the sale.
